This week's update...

A few new pictures to have a laugh at this week!

As the first one, below says, Olivia is a "Little Sweetie"!

This one was taken in a garden centre's cafe in Berwick-upon-Tweed, where Sandy was enjoying a smoothie, made from apples.

Well, not much I can say about this one! Olivia seems to enjoy wearing this very Scottish hat, and why not? It is the week of Burns Suppers after all!

Here, Sandy relaxes after a hard day at nursery, 22 January 2007.

Finally, here are the pair of our wee beauties, showing a bit of brotherly- sisterly love, with Sandy pushing Olivia around in a buggy that is actually for a doll, not a baby!

Summer holiday plans for 2007

From the moment we returned from our fantastic holiday to Kotka, in Finland last July, both Anna and myself - and Sandy too, come to think of it- have been desperately wanting to return to the beautiful house we stayed in at the Santalahti Holiday Centre. We have talked endlessly about returning there, and my blog even appears on the Santalahti home page, so they must have appreciated what I wrote about it all!

However, sadly, we can't afford to return this year, as it was an expensive trip. Hopefully, if we can save up a bit, we will be able to drive there again next year, in 2008.

So, in the meantime, we have turned our thoughts elsewhere, and we have decided to visit Valencia, in Spain, for a fortnight in July. Anna's pal from St Petersburg, Valentina lives there with her Spanish husband Alfredo, so we'll have the chance to catch up with them following on from their visit here in the summer of 2003.

Our apartment is in this street...

We've rented a two bedroom apartment, air-conditioned, thankfully, and we're all looking forward to enjoying some Spanish sunshine. As I've never been to mainland Spain, and Anna hasn't been there either, it's something a little different for us.

View from the window...not far to the beach!

A walk in the woods, and a train journey to Inverkeithing and back!

With the Christmas holidays all but over, we have enjoyed the last few days by doing things locally, and not so locally.
Firstly, we went for a walk in the woods around our estate on a lovely, crisp morning.

Sandy likes to collect sticks on his travels....

Taken by Sandy in the woods.

Then, yesterday, Saturday 7th Jan, we decided to take a train ride across the Forth Rail Bridge, as none of us had done it before- (well, perhaps I have, but if so, it was a very long time ago, so it was definitely time to have another trip!)- so we caught a GNER train directly from Dunbar to Inverkeithing in Fife.
There, we had a look around, had refreshments in a nice wee cafe, then headed back to the station to catch a Scotrail train back to Edinburgh Waverley. From there, we transferred to a Virgin train for the return to Dunbar.

Why? Well, Sandy is very much into trains again, so it was all to keep him amused, and to be fair, he had a brilliant time. So, too, did the rest of us!

Waiting at the station in Dunbar...

Speeding towards Edinburgh on the GNER train!

Sandy watches the GNER train leave to head north from Inverkeithing.

With Inverkeithing station in the background.

Now, we had never been on a Scotrail train before this one!

A happy lad on the Scotrail train.

Passing Rosyth...Can you spot the Superfast ferry? (that one's for dad, who's daft on ferries!)

Just before boarding the Virgin Voyager train from Edinburgh, back to Sunny Dunny!

No, it's not cold on the Virgin train, it's just that Olivia fancies a shot of Sandy's Scooby Doo hat!

End of a great trip, and one very happy boy!

Back home, and Olivia doesn't want to give up that hat!!

Some late December/ early January 2007 pictures

The holidays have allowed us to enjoy time in and around the house, not doing too much. Next week, it's back to work for me, and for Anna too.
These photos are from the last couple of weeks. Olivia is looking a bit more grown up now, especially in the picture of her in our conservatory, below.

We have used the conservatory quite often over the Christmas holidays, despite the fact that it has been quite cold outside. Here, Olivia relaxes!

Sandy and Olivia, upstairs.

Oh, yes, he's a mummy's boy!

Sometimes, he's a daddy's boy too!

All three together...

What a cheeky grin!
